Beginner's Guide – How to Play Before the Storm

This guide covers everything you need for your first session of Before the Storm, from starting the game in your browser to building your first shelter.

Getting started

Open pixelpioneer3d.com in a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari on a desktop or laptop.
Press Play Now. The game checks your device and picks WebGPU when it is available, or WebGL2 otherwise. Nothing is installed.
Wait for the first load to finish. Later visits are faster because your browser keeps the game data.

Moving and fighting

Move by clicking on the ground, and orbit the camera to look around.
Target an animal or enemy to attack it. Your starting weapon is the bow.
Normal Shot fires a single arrow; Cluster Shot fires a spread of arrows for hunting several targets.
Interact by clicking resources such as coconut trees, wood and stone.

Survival basics

Your character has health, hunger and thirst. Weather matters too: wind and rain sweep across the islands, and cold rain is safer to wait out under a roof. To recover:

Eat food, such as meat from the animals you hunt.
Light a campfire and shelter from bad weather.
Sit in meditation to slowly restore health.

Hunting and loot

Wildlife comes in strength tiers, from chickens and rabbits to wild boars, cows and water buffalo. Stronger animals hit harder and drop better loot, and each region has its own mix of creatures.
